My comp hates Good Burger

October 13th--

Hey fam! Well this week has been pretty normal, we worked and visited and talked, while eating a lot of rice. But we were able to watch conference again, and it was awesome, as always! I was also lucky enough to enjoy watching it in english. So my spanish now is probably really bad, after talking to Elder Murphy in english all the time, and listening to things in english.

Out of all the talks I noticed that they talked a lot of a couple of topics. namely...president Thomas Monson, the importance of having the gospel in the home, role of parents, jesucrist, and loving everyone (wish they talked about that one a long time ago) especially the poor and needy. I would talk more about that stuff, but I am pretty sure that you guys have already read and heard them. However our of all the conferences I liked the saturday afternoon one the most.

However when Elder Perry told the story about the little girl telling her mom that it is time to pray. the little girl said, what is more important, fruit or a prayer. I most admit that I did say "it depends on what type of fruit it is".

Sorry I dont really have more to say, but Hope that you are all doing good.

Hello Again!

October 6th--

Well sorry that I couldnt write you guys last week, things have been a little crazy but all good down here in Peru. This past week, we had the opportunity to have our good old president come up to Cajamarca and talk to us and do some interviews. Probably wasnt very surprising that in my interview, we still just argued and talked about BYU UTAH, and I am still 100% sure that I am still winning that battle that we are having.

The work here is still the same, the people are hard to teach and I am walking around with a sweater and coat on. YES!! It really isnt that cold, only like 60 degrees, but after being in Chiclayo and Jaén, it feels really cold to me.

Now I wasnt able to listen to conference yesterday or saturday. Because it was voting weekend here in Peru. So it was a little crazy last week because everyone was chanting and saying VOTE FOR ME!! But it is illegal to have public meetings the day of voting (Suday) and the day before (saturday) So we couldnt go to the church to watch conference. So not anyone in Peru will see conference until this saturday and Sunday, unless they watch it on the Internet. I am sure that it was great and that you guys loved it....but we can talk about it next week. :)

Picture: Like I said where I am now is really catholic, and for a really long time they are catholic, So this is a picture of me in front on a catholic Cathedral from 1840ish

Venid a mí

September 22nd--

Well, I am wrinting a little bit early today, because it is raining here right now, and we dont have anything else to do, so we are hoping that we will be able to do something in the afternoon, and that it is not just downpouring. Even though I am loving that rain, and I havent seen it since Jaén.

As for me, I have been all good. This past week, Elder Murphy had to go to Lima for his visa papers, so for acouple of days I was in another trio with Elder Otivo and Elder Peabody, but now Elder Otivo has a change and is leaving today a little bit later, So I will be in another trio with Elder Peabody and Murphy, until the new companion comes here.

One thing that we are doing now as missionaries, is helping out all of the wards and the members a lot, so last night we took some hours to hold a training meeting for all of the leaders, so hopefully we will get a little bit more help in this work from the members.

Other than that nothing is really new with me, I have still just been knocking a lot of doors and teaching some people. Sorry that I am a little bit boring today, but Questions?

Hold up! 1 year gone?

September 15th--

well Last thursday I celebrated having 1 year in the mission. It was pretty much a normal day as always, except at the end of the day we went up on the roof of our apartment and burned a shirt. I didnt want to burn a white shirt because I cant buy a new one down here...none of them fit me. So I just burned an old shirt from high school. (Picture)

During that day, I took a couple of minutes to think of everything that has happened the past year. while I was doing it, I didnt think about the succes that I have had, but yet the people that I have met, the food I have eatin, the endless walking that I have down. I have had the opportunity to know the rainforest and the third tallest waterfall in the word-to know the desert that hasnt rained for 15 years. I have seen life brought into this world and I have seen it leave, I have given more blessings to people than I can count and I have seen the blessings of these blessings. I have talked to more than a thousand people in a language that I was lucky enough to learn. I have been able to see people get baptized and now have recieved there mission calls to go help people. I have shed tears and I have seen tears shedded, ]I have been able to help and train people become more like christ and realize that truth come in many forms. I have met people from 16 different countries and I have eatin more rice then all the people in the Utah has ever eatin! That dang rice!

I am grateful that I made the choice to serve a mission, I have no idea what is going to happen during this next year or what will follow after the mission. But what I have learned during the past year with the help of the lord is that I know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. I am grateful for what it has done to me and my family being members of this church, and I am grateful that I am able to help some peruvians see the light that can help there families also.

Hopefully you all had a good week and keep doing what it is that we have to do.

I Fink U Freaky

September 8th--

Well this last week that been pretty normal as for missionary work. We didnt have any investigadores so Elder Murphy and I have just been knocking a lot of doors trying to get a couple of people to answer us. But just to tell you guys a little bit about Cajamarca, it is an area that the spaniards came to when they came here, so it is a really old town. But it is hard to do missionary work here because everyone here is really catholic, there are a lot of little catholic cathedrals here, which I will probably take a couple of pictures of because they are really cool, but it makes the work here a little hard. Also here in cajamarca is it cold, I have to have either a sweater or a coat on everyday after about 6 in the afternoon or else it is cold. I also sleep with 2 heavy blankets. It is great! Very different from Jaen!

Today we went as a district to a little lookout place which was cool because we could of seen all of Cajamarca, but nothing else really cool has happened.

One thing that I forgot to tell you guys, is that as off about 3 weeks ago we finally got cell phones that we carry around.....YES!!

Well Well Well

September 1st--

So I am sorry that I didnt write you guys last week, it was a little bit crazy. Before I go into explaining things I just want you all to know that the mission is and has been changing...a lot. So Chota is a wonderfull place, it is a little town that reciently good Missionarys put into it less than a year ago. It is a small town but it is really nice, it reminds me a little bit about of park city, only it hasnt started that rain season yet, so it isnt very green. There was 4 elders there, but president took out 3 of them and put 5 new people in the town to help strengthen the branch. Elder murphy and I were 2 of those 5. However the mission president recieved some new orders from the Area of the Seventy and an apostle, that we now have to focus on area that are strong and big. For examples wards and big branchs, so that we can help strengthen the members and do more reactivating. So last week the president did emergency transfers for a lot of missionarys! Including me and Elder Murphy.
SO needless to say, last saturday we had a random visit by the asistents to the pres. come and at about 8 in night they told us that monday morning we are going to be going to a new area and that we cant tell any of the members, until sunday night after sacrament meeting. So that is why I didnt have enough time to write you guys last monday. Because all of sunday and monday morning we were packing up everything that is owned by the Mission and going to another city called Cajamarca. After only a week in the actual chota, we then turned around and went down the 4 hour unpaved road to come back to Cajamarca. Leaving behind the little members crying and wondering what is going to happen to the branch. It was really hard for the 6 missonaries there to leave, and also for the asistents also. But all we do is follow what the lord tells our leaders. So Chota was left in the hands of the leaders of the branch.
Now I am still with Elder Murphy, and we are opening another area. Which means, neither of us know the area, members, we dont have investigators, we are pretty much givin a room with a ward directory and then tell us...go to work. But we are in a ward in the city of Cajamarca (google it) and in the ward, due to the new orders, there are 4 of us elderes, y 2 hermanas. So this past week elder Murphy and I have just been knocking a ton of doors and trying to get to know the people and area.
It is a little weird to think that I am now in my fifth area and I still only have less than a year in the mission (normally people only have 5 or 6 areas in the entire mission). But I have learned that God does things for a reason and that we might be different from everyone else, but we just have to be obedient and do the things that he asks of us. Both in the mission and outside of the mission.

Sorry if that doesnt make any sense, but feel free to ask questions. Hope that you have a good week.
