September 1st--
So I am sorry that I didnt write you guys last week, it was a little bit crazy. Before I go into explaining things I just want you all to know that the mission is and has been changing...a lot. So Chota is a wonderfull place, it is a little town that reciently good Missionarys put into it less than a year ago. It is a small town but it is really nice, it reminds me a little bit about of park city, only it hasnt started that rain season yet, so it isnt very green. There was 4 elders there, but president took out 3 of them and put 5 new people in the town to help strengthen the branch. Elder murphy and I were 2 of those 5. However the mission president recieved some new orders from the Area of the Seventy and an apostle, that we now have to focus on area that are strong and big. For examples wards and big branchs, so that we can help strengthen the members and do more reactivating. So last week the president did emergency transfers for a lot of missionarys! Including me and Elder Murphy.
SO needless to say, last saturday we had a random visit by the asistents to the pres. come and at about 8 in night they told us that monday morning we are going to be going to a new area and that we cant tell any of the members, until sunday night after sacrament meeting. So that is why I didnt have enough time to write you guys last monday. Because all of sunday and monday morning we were packing up everything that is owned by the Mission and going to another city called Cajamarca. After only a week in the actual chota, we then turned around and went down the 4 hour unpaved road to come back to Cajamarca. Leaving behind the little members crying and wondering what is going to happen to the branch. It was really hard for the 6 missonaries there to leave, and also for the asistents also. But all we do is follow what the lord tells our leaders. So Chota was left in the hands of the leaders of the branch.
Now I am still with Elder Murphy, and we are opening another area. Which means, neither of us know the area, members, we dont have investigators, we are pretty much givin a room with a ward directory and then tell us...go to work. But we are in a ward in the city of Cajamarca (google it) and in the ward, due to the new orders, there are 4 of us elderes, y 2 hermanas. So this past week elder Murphy and I have just been knocking a ton of doors and trying to get to know the people and area.
It is a little weird to think that I am now in my fifth area and I still only have less than a year in the mission (normally people only have 5 or 6 areas in the entire mission). But I have learned that God does things for a reason and that we might be different from everyone else, but we just have to be obedient and do the things that he asks of us. Both in the mission and outside of the mission.
Sorry if that doesnt make any sense, but feel free to ask questions. Hope that you have a good week.
